How I’m going to utilise my English period on Monday 25 February 2019

P.

"I decided not to be boring."
- Pn Monica, 2k19. Wise words to follow.

So, Monday. Everyone likes Mondays. Probably.

The much-awaited drama competition of SMKDJ that is going to happen this Thursday, on the 28th of February, involves all 6 classes of Form 5s. So, in order to not embarrass ourselves during the actual competition, my class and I decided to practice our drama during the English periods on Monday 25th, February 2019, which is tomorrow.

So, to begin the practice, we're going to start off by practising the drama scenes over, and over, and over again. This is obviously, really vital to the competition, as we all frequently say, practice makes perfect. Then, we'll make sure that the props are done and are usable, courtesy of our great propmaster Chlarine. Thanks fam. Doing a few practices with the props should be important since we have to know what to do and when to do it during the competition.

Then, of course, proofreading the script for the last time. A drama script, filled with grammar mistakes and weird plot holes isn't really great. So, that's another important part of the drama, the essential part of it if I do say so myself, since everything is based around the script and the story.

So, that'll be our plan for this Monday. Let's hope that it actually works.

Cheers,
Chua.

Writing a 10 word story

Welcome back folks. Sadly, it seems that third time isn't a charm. Oh well, back to basics. Anyway, I hope you had a good week. I'm sure many of you had written essays throughout your lifetime. Whether its an essay for school which is usually 200 ~ 400 words long, a story (length may vary) or even a thesis paper (thousands). Depending on your age and level of English education of course. Personal record, 13 thousand words in a story named Chrono Switch . I assume you already read the title and hence clicked on this post for... actually why did you clicked on this post? Either way, we were instructed to write a ten word story, with the word "spooky" being mandatory in the story. And with Halloween coming around the corner, I can see why they picked that specific word. I too, enjoy writing weird story that are outfitted with details and character development. So writing a ten word story is quite an interesting challenge. Coming up with something with a broad theme...

The Philosophy of Tetris

"I am the man who arranges the blocks, that continue to fall from up above..." I believe most of you of you know what Tetris is. Most of you are likely to have played it, or at least heard about it. Be it the charming 8-bit music, the satisfying beep after a line is completed, or just the blocks that fall into place one by one, filling the gaps, I"m sure that we all can agree upon the fact that Tetris is one of the best classic game we have ever played. While I was revisiting the game, trying to break another player's high score, I realize that, even in a simple game such as Tetris, which has the main goal of trying to get the best score you can through stacking blocks and aligning them, I can't help but think of the true meaning of Tetris. So today, let's explore the philosophy behind the Tetris. Keep in mind, that this is my opinion. Feel free to judge... constructively. First concept You don't have to be perfect to fit in Before we jump into...

Story starting with a sentence given by Pn Monica

L. ------ Ping.. My mobile phone lit up with a message from Pn. Monica.... It was a late Friday night, and after a long week people are surely tired and wanted to take a break. The message started a lot of distraught, since people wanted to take a break on a Saturday. "Please go to the library tomorrow. I have an important task for you." Sure enough, the request sparked a lot of questions in the group chat, varying from asking why do we have to go to school on a Saturday, or how important this task is, to mindless puns and jokes about said task. Following morning, we gathered in the library, chattering about what a hassle it is to get out of bed on a warm, cozy, Saturday morning. Just when the crowd began to get heated on discussing what they're going to do, Pn Monica emerges from her office, and carrying a thick book inscribed in an language that none of us has seen before. She place the thick book down on the table with a loud thump. "That's one h...
