Road Run 2018 SMKDJ

So Road Run 2018 just happened. Unfortunately, I wasn't participating in the running and went participating for First Aid duty. Hopefully I'd get a chance to participate in running next year. Anyway, this is how it went ! Many of the runners have been practicing for the past few weeks, running the same route over and over again during house practice. The only thing that separates them from first place is stamina and speed. Oh, and a sense of direction too. I've seen a fair few runners that ran the wrong way. Oops ! It's quite lucky that this year's Road Run we did not have any serious casualties. Let's hope it stays the same next year. I did joined road run last year. It was fun to some extent, minus the nausea part. Guess I'm not built for long distance running. The practices were okay, and I could achieve a reasonable speed but still to no avail slower than other people. Running along with a few friends in the same speed, we get to have a chat as non...

A Festival in Malaysia

With Lunar New Year around the corner, let's talk about some festivals in Malaysia !  Lunar New Year, or Chinese New Year, is celebrated nationwide every year around the month of February. In the Lunar Calendar, New Year celebration lasts for 15 days. Despite only having two days of public holidays, the general Chinese community will still put up a performance of the Chinese culture, among the most notable activities are the Lion Dance and the twenty-four festival drums (二十四节令鼓). Talking about Chinese New Year, we of course could not miss out the important detail - 'ang paos'. Ang paos are generally red packets filled with varied amount of money, and it can only be given by married couples to younger generations. So don't go around and give people red packets ! Usually on the night before the 1st day of Chinese New Year, Chinese families will have a reunion dinner. The dinner usually will have certain dishes due to their meanings and also maybe a pun or two. A ...

A response to Chief Seattle's speech

At the end of his speech, Chief Seattle said this: The end of living and the beginning of survival". Among all the living species on Earth, us, mankind are dubbed as the smartest among the animals, but also the most selfish species. Our ancestors was not so bad. They co-exist with the Earth, taking only what they needed. Rocks, timber, and the occasional hunts to gather food. The environment was not polluted, and they respected every bird, tree and rock, believing there are spirits in them, also known as animism. Times has changed nowadays. After the industrial revolution, we rarely care about the consequences of all large and prosperous projects that we launch one after another. Greed now controls us. Even the ambitious spaceflight projects are polluting the Earth, filling the outer layer of Earth with space junks. Earth is not ours. We're merely insignificant lifeforms found on it's beautiful surface, that after decades of pollution, lost to history. We shou...

Preparation, presentation and post-mortem of the presentation my group sketch: Flame

1. Learning Process The process of preparing for the sketch was actually quite fun and interesting. Being placed in a group of boys without any girls, and a story that consists of both genders, we had to take drastic measures  to act out all of the existing characters in the sketch. All of us learned quite of a lot of new things during the sketch. I feel more confident after the act due to how you have to "get out there" and actually perform the character you are assigned to.Besides, it strengthen the bond between me and my friends who were in the same group. A lot of effort was put into the script to make sure everything was right. Everyone had their own role and their own dialogues. During the presentation, we presented the entire story with little to no problems aside from forgetting which character we were supposed to act. (*cough* Meghann *cough*) If we could make it better, my guess would be using actual equipment and actually grasping the characteristics of our ...
