Writing a 10 word story

Welcome back folks. Sadly, it seems that third time isn't a charm. Oh well, back to basics. Anyway, I hope you had a good week. I'm sure many of you had written essays throughout your lifetime. Whether its an essay for school which is usually 200 ~ 400 words long, a story (length may vary) or even a thesis paper (thousands). Depending on your age and level of English education of course. Personal record, 13 thousand words in a story named Chrono Switch . I assume you already read the title and hence clicked on this post for... actually why did you clicked on this post? Either way, we were instructed to write a ten word story, with the word "spooky" being mandatory in the story. And with Halloween coming around the corner, I can see why they picked that specific word. I too, enjoy writing weird story that are outfitted with details and character development. So writing a ten word story is quite an interesting challenge. Coming up with something with a broad theme...

Happiness

"Why are you always sad? Cheer up! The world is so beautiful!" Welcome back to the weekly blog post folks. I hope you had a nice week. Without further ado, let's begin, shall we? Last post, we explored some parts in our mind that makes us think negatively. Long story short, evolution as the culprit has made us value mistakes due to their consequences rather than optimistic thinking that will give us benefits, a.k.a  The Negativity Bias .  It is why sometimes people ruminate obsessively over minor mistakes rather than focusing on the greater good. Give it a read if you wish. Continuing on with last topic on Social Studies, let's talk about happiness.  Happiness is something we all strive to achieve... or do we? According to our favourite website, Wikipedia, the meaning of happiness can be defined as: In psychology, happiness  can be defined as a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by, among others positive or pleasant...

The Negativity Bias

Happy weekend everyone! And as you can read from the title, it's a free topic week! Now, I know what you're thinking. "Oh boy, another history post, how fun  !"   Hold your horses my friends. Today we're going to take a break from our history posts, and do something else instead. Social  Science . So... to all you luddites (1)  out there, feel free to click off this post. To be honest, if you're a luddite, why are you using a computer/phone to access this blog in the first place ? So today we're going to discuss, in general, negative thoughts. Or negativity in general. Negativity in a person can come from many aspects.  One can be : (a) negative to themselves or (b) negative to others Scenario (b) usually happens when one is affected mass media, which is commonplace at this day and age, bad parenting, and of course, "friends". Birds of a feather, flock together as they say. Most of the time, they're doing so just to get more att...

Adjectives

Welcome back to the " weekly " blog post folks. Even though we're considered as Form 4 in secondary school (or if you're American, tenth-grade in high school), our English teacher, Pn Monica informed us to bring colour pencils. We're supposed to draw monsters, our deepest, darkest, most terrifying monsters that scare us the most. Obviously, everyone started to get excited ? I don't exactly know what the moods of people was but it kind of sounded like it. To be honest with you, I had fun. We were supposed to draw something as stated the above, along the description that best suites it. Then we will get someone's else description and based on that, we will draw that character/monster. Mine was a guy standing in the corner, and as I wrote, "wannabe shadow Freddy Krueger". Then Pn Monica collected all of it and passed it around. I got Cathy's description. -small eyes, moustache, big nose, sometimes has glasses. Sounds easy right ? Well y...

Merdeka/Free Topic

Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Malaysia, happy birthday to you ! Well ladies and gents, I'm happy to announce that Malaysia is now officially 61 year old ! Even if you're not Malaysian, please, don't steal our thunder :/ It's been a long time since we gain our freedom from the British Empire. Maybe things would have turn out different and we might be speaking British or Japanese if none of our ancestors did anything to overthrow both forces. The word 'Merdeka', or 'independent' in English, is a word I feel like the newer generations of Malaysians are taking for granted. It's a word that appear every August and September to signify the end of the British reign over our nation, and yet other than the two months mentioned, it's rarely heard elsewhere. Most people nowadays view it as a public holiday, a break from the long working hours. Though I don't disagree with the view of the public holiday, since ...
