Sundering Through the Skies

I'm bored, so here's another random blogpost.

You'll be fine.

No matter what you're going through right now, you'll be fine.

Now, this blog post might already start to sound weird, but I'm directing it to everyone that's currently stuck between a rock in a hard place, be it in a terrible work situation, a shit ton of homework to cope with, a bad relationship, no relationship, or an assignment or a test due next week. This is the blog post, for you.

Yes, yes. It's already sounding like some cliche bullshit. "Always a silver lining between the clouds."

And well, you're not entirely wrong, but when our minds are tangled up like the Gordian knot, nothing will ever seem to make sense. Problems in life will start to look like weird mathematics equations, complicated, long, and hard to solve. The more you look at it, the more frustrated, the more angry and desperate you'll get. Trust me, I know the feels too well.

It is not my place to judge anything you're doing right now, it's your life, do whatever you want within the confinement of the laws, but, what I'm trying to say that is you're not seeing the bigger picture right now. You're just focusing on one part of the sky, as famously said by Bruce Lee, "focus on the moon, and you'll miss everything that happens around it." That one problem of yours might just require you look at the bigger picture, from another perspective to solve it.

When you start to lose hope on something, what's the quote that everyone will use, hoping that it will improve your mood?

Bingo.

"There's always a silver lining among the clouds."

They're not wrong. But, sometimes, when we're stuck on a problem that we repeat it in our head ad Infinium, our perspective shrinks. We can't see the silver lining. We can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. With no hints of success or rewards, we give up hope. We stop putting effort into something, and we lose all motivations to pursue something.

Maybe this blog post is useless, or maybe it won't make any sense, but here I hope that you continue to push on, no matter the stakes, no matter the challenges, no matter the consequences. Sure, the looming storm clouds are ahead. The thunderous claps and the lightning strikes are intimidating. The darkness that falls on the land is gloomy. Don't fret. No matter what, push on. No matter what, continue. Nothing will be done if you don't do anything.

Sure, the rainfall now makes the pathway to success harder to traverse in, but think about this: When you finally reach your destination and the rain finally stops, you'll see rainbows, perhaps double or triple rainbows, celebrating your success after the rainfall, after you decided to push on on the path of success.

There's a silver lining among the clouds, but, to reach it, you have to put in some effort. And perhaps, with just enough effort, after sundering through the clouds, you'll see the Sun, shining greatly and brightly above your head, the warmth calming your soul, telling you that you've succeeded in breaking through dark times and achieved your goal.

So, don't worry too much about now. Time and time again, humanity has persisted through various bullshit in history. We've had wars, calamities, plagues, world-ending disasters. Yet, after a few thousand years, we, a bunch of primates who learned to cooperate and congregate has managed to claim the title of King of the Animals. Hold your chin up high, and be proud of the fact that you're still... well... alive!

Look back at the problems you've faced before. What do they look like now?

Events that made you a better person. Events that helped you grow. Perhaps, down the line, you'll view the problems you're facing now with gratitude, knowing that it shaped you into a better person in the future.

Chin up, friend. They always talk about the calm before the storm, but they never talked about the rainbows after the rain. Calm down, take a deep breath, have a sip of water, and continue tackling that problem of yours till you reign victorious. Good luck!

Cheers,
Chua.

ICT-ton and Carnival 2018

Well it's sad to say I missed this one purely because I was busy and no other reason. So I'm going to sum the event up through friends' experiences. To start off, there was a senamrobik activity in the morning. This is quite weird as... you know... it's a carnival.... not Sports Day to be exact. Nevertheless, that happened. I'm guessing most of the participants weren't wearing the proper attire as they didn't get the memo till the last minute. Besides, there was a dunking game that was setup by the Scouts. Though I didn't go to the carnival personally, a few clips circulated around social media such as Facebook and Instagram and that's how I know Joash from 4 Balau got dunked. Mr James that was a former teacher in the school along with Pn Lau got dunked as well. Lastly, the Teen Star Talent show. Again, I didn't go to the carnival so I do not know half of what happened during the event, but the highlight of the carnival was Mr Ganapathy, th...

Optimism / Pessimism Bias

Welcome back, friends. Exam weeks was long and harsh, but now it's over. Hooray! As for the blog posts, they're starting again and this time, oh boy, free topic for days (at least I hope so). So fasten your seat belts as we explore more random topics for no apparent reason. Today's Topic : Optimism/Pessimism Bias "Great, another bias. What's next? K-Drama bias? Anime bias? Jeez, at least talk about something positive." Well, positive things aren't always fun to write. So... cliche and boring. I rather dig into negative stuff just to find out what causes them and how we can solve them. Doesn't  that sound positive to you? Either way, let's jump into today's topic. I'm going to cover both Optimism bias and Pessimism bias in the same blog post, because they usually are found together in a statement. But before that, let's ask ourselves this common question that is used to test optimism and pessimism. Is the cup half full or h...

First Week of School

First Week of School (SMKDJ) The very first week of the first school semester. Some dread it, while others look forward to it. To me, neither of both mattered. A month of holiday might sound good to take a break after a long year of hard work and constant studying to prepare for PT3, but after a week or so, you start to get that feeling of missing being with your friends in school, doing activities together. (not group work with random people that don't know each other really well) New semester, new class, new classmates and a whole new timetable to memorize. First week is always pretty exciting, since you get to meet your friends again after a long month. What's more exciting is that the classes. While some might be boring, others can be quite fascinating. Since it's the first week, nothing much other than normal classes and longer than average speeches from Mr.Ganapathy. The changes for co-curriculum were quite interesting too, but transporters...
